"Geração à rasca" - The concept
This is a co-production between Ourafilmes and Instituto Multimédia (a school in Oporto). This project is the first co-production of the company in 15 years! This was shot in video with the students on both sides: they were actors and also members of the shooting crew at the same time. Usually, I make some short movies with the students, but they are short movies (3-5 mins.). This year, it was different!
This project is an alternative youth series (sometimes also subversive), actual but raw. As it is a pilot episode, it would be supposed to have more episodes mas none is in our horizons. It was always supposed to be just a pilot episode of a youth series based in Oporto.
In reality, this is a caricature of the modern portuguese society of 2012 but presented through a different point of view: from the prisma of these students of a professional school in Oporto. It goes about many things: pregnancy, corruption, drugs, music, sex, violence,... From the "no budget" party to the computer games, everything has a place here!
Most stories are based in real stories/experiences that I lived or heard about during my life as a student. As always, the funny side of things is present all the time!
The image was treated with a cartoon look but is just a slight visual effect.
Video and audio editing/post production by Miguel Santos from Ourafilmes and original soundtrack by Dr. Speaker Blower. Shooting crew are the students (the actors).
